BAY'S NEW BASKETBALL COACH

A new era has officially begun at Bay High School. Earlier in the week, we brought you the news of the Tornadoes hiring Rusty Cook to be their new Head Basketball Coach. Friday afternoon he was officially introduced at the school. Cook takes over for Michael Grady, and will be looking to build off of the team's playoff appearance from last season. Cook has experience coaching the Gulf Coast Thunder youth teams and says he embraces the challenge of coming in and competing in a tough district with Rutherford, Mosley, and Arnold. Basketball-wise, he describes himself as the type of coach that looks to build a scheme around his players rather than build his players around a specific scheme. Off the court, however, is what has Cook really excited to take over at Bay High. "It's a dream come true to be able to lead a high school program and lead these young men,” Coach Cook says, “I'm a people person. I'm passionate about helping people, and basketball has always been an avenue I can use to do that. I love the game, and the Xs and Os, but I love helping people as well. So I am really excited about this platform that I have to be able to do that."
