                                    Tornadoes Beat Down Marianna 19-2

The Tornadoes traveled to Pensacola Catholic, host of the District Tournament, and came home victors over the Marianna Bulldogs. While improving their record to 20-6, the Tornadoes pulled their bats out the fire and headed to the plate with a vengenance. There was no score in the first inning and the Tornadoes collected 5 runs in the bottom of the second inning following the rally spark from Austin Thomas. Ten runs were gathered in innings with two outs. Hits were liberally spread across the lineup and the Tornadoes were as sharp in the field as they were at the plate.

Of note was Mike Luing's at bat in the 4th inning. Bases were loaded, two outs and the count was 3-1. The ensuing pitch appeared to be outside, there was no call and Luing headed to first base. The plate umpire called a strike and Luing returned to the plate. On the next pitch, Luing hit a grand slam.

The Tornadoes' victory puts them in to the District final game on Thursday night back at Pensacola Catholic, against Pensacola Catholic. Last night's victory also qualifies the Tornadoes for the regional tournament which begins next week. Congratulations to the coaches and players on a strong victory against Marianna. Will the Tornadoes have the same focus and determination against Pensacola Catholic in the District final game and bring home the first Championship since 2002?
